Casa De Los Angelitos, through its “I.R.I.S.E.” program (Individualized Roadmap to Independence, Resilience, Support, and Empowerment), offers comprehensive services to support black mothers during pregnancy and early motherhood including a new initiative focused on physical health. These programs have distinct focuses and goals:

I.R.I.S.E. Program Overview:

Focus and Goals:

  • Holistic healthcare, mental health, and physical health services.
  • Return-to-work programs for Black pregnant women and their families.
  • Physical Health Program with tailored exercise and nutrition plans lead by an Occupational Therapist

Program Components:

  • Occupational Therapy: Customized exercise and nutrition plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Assessment: Comprehensive evaluation of each woman’s situation, career goals, housing stability, and childcare needs.
  • Healthcare: Access to prenatal care, healthcare services, nutrition, prenatal classes, and health insurance assistance.
  • Doula Services: Providing in-house doula support to assist pregnant women throughout their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period.
  • Education and Parenting: Parenting classes, workshops, and educational resources for prenatal and postnatal needs.
  • Case Management: Regular progress checks and plan adjustments by a case manager.
  • Empowerment: Programs to promote self-esteem, independence, and resilience.
  • Community Resources: Connections to local resources like food banks and clothing drives.
  • Childbirth Preparation: Access to childbirth classes.
  • Transportation: Offering transportation to and from doctor appointments and labor and delivery.
  • Career Development: Career counseling, job placement assistance, resume-building, and networking.
  • Financial Stability: Budgeting plans, financial literacy resources, and assistance with government benefits and child support.
  • Child Care: Arrangement of childcare services, connection with local providers, and parenting skills education.
  • Housing Stability: Assistance in securing stable housing post-stay, including affordable housing resources and rental assistance.
  • Legal Assistance: Legal referrals on custody, child support, and housing rights.
