At Casa, we’re not just offering shelter—we’re offering hope, a fresh start, and the tools women need to build a better future. Over the years, countless success stories have emerged from our doors, each one a testament to the resilience and determination of the women we serve. Today, we want to share three powerful stories of transformation that show just how life-changing Casa can be.
Ashley: From Resident to Role Model
Ashley’s journey with Casa began in 2009, when she arrived as a teenager seeking refuge and support. Over the years, she transformed not just her own life, but the lives of others as well. After leaving Casa, Ashley became a skilled bookkeeper, built a loving family, and raised a beautiful daughter, now 15.
But Ashley’s story doesn’t end there. She has come full circle—returning to Casa, not as a resident, but as a volunteer and board member. Her passion for giving back is evident as she mentors young women at Casa, teaching them valuable skills like bookkeeping and entrepreneurship. “Casa gave me the foundation I needed to rebuild my life,” Ashley says. “Now, I’m proud to help other young women build theirs.
Jessica: Turning Struggles Into Strength
Jessica’s story is one of resilience in the face of hardship. When she came to Casa earlier this year, she was in a tough spot—struggling with housing instability and making some choices that didn’t serve her best interests. But from the moment she arrived, Jessica took full advantage of the resources and opportunities Casa offers.
With hard work, persistence, and the support of Casa’s team, Jessica completely turned her life around. She welcomed her son, Dante, in July 2024, and soon after, moved into her own apartment. But perhaps the most inspiring part of Jessica’s journey is that she didn’t just reclaim her own future—she became a staff member at Casa, helping other women navigate their own challenges. “Casa gave me the chance to rebuild my life, and now I’m paying it forward,” Jessica shares with a smile.
Shonda: Rebuilding from the Ground Up
Shonda’s journey at Casa began in early 2023, when she became a resident looking for a safe place to regroup and rebuild. Like many women, Shonda faced her own set of struggles, but with determination and support, she turned her life around. During her time at Casa, she gave birth to her son, Zamari, and slowly but steadily found her footing in the world again.

Like many women, Shonda faced her own set of struggles, but with determination and support, she turned her life around. During her time at Casa, she gave birth to her son, Zamari, and slowly but steadily found her footing in the world again.
By the end of her first year at Casa, Shonda had not only secured housing but also found the confidence to step into a new role as a staff member. Today, she is an active part of the Casa community, helping other women as they work toward their own goals. “Casa gave me the space to heal and grow,” Shonda reflects. “Now, I’m living independently and giving back to the place that helped me.”
These three women—Ashley, Jessica, and Shonda—are shining examples of what’s possible when women are given the support and resources they need to thrive. Casa isn’t just a place to live; it’s a place to grow, learn, and transform.
The success stories at Casa prove that with the right foundation, women can rebuild their lives—not just for themselves, but for their children as well. These women have turned their challenges into triumphs, and they’re now empowering the next generation to do the same.
At Casa, we believe in second chances. These women prove that no matter the obstacles you face, with hard work, support, and determination, a brighter future is always within reach.
